BOXING IN MELBOURNE
STRIBLING BEATS FREEMAN CONTEST ONE-SIDED MELBOURNE. Sept, 23 At tho Melbourne Stadium last evening Young Stribling (13.8) had little difficulty in outpointing Johnny Freeman (13.3) in a 15'i-ound bout.
The largo crowd was disappointed at the onesidedness of the bout and repeatedly counted out tho boxers. Freeman was well trained and looked like holding his own until tho sixth round, when Stribling, in his characteristically confident style, leading with his left to excellent purpose and wasting mo punches, did exactly as ho liked. Ho constantly drove Freeman to the ropes, whipping under or over his guard with lightning-like lefts which told their talc.
Freeman could do no more than smother and drop into clinches in order to escape more severe punishment. Stribling created the usual impression that he was fighting a " cold fight," not desiring a knockout. Certainly ho is a most difficult opponent and fights with supreme confidence, vim and erect bearing.
