NEW PARNELL SCHOOL
PREPARING THE GROUND About 20 relief workers are to commence on Monday clearing the site of the old St. Stephen's School in St. Stephens Avenue in preparation for the erection of the new Parnell School. The area, which is triangular in shape, is already in fairly good order, but the foundations and other debris of the old school hive to be removed. The old stone walls are to be demolished and a new boundary wall of stone erected. At the base of the aiea, football and cricket grounds for the senior boys are to be prepared. The central portion of the grounds will be retained for the girls and the apex will form the infants' playground. The extreme point of the apex is to bo cut back to improve the road corner for traffic. Tenders for the erection of the new school will probably be called within six weeks.
