RELIEF MEN'S STRIKE
NO CHANGE AT HASTINGS BOARD DECLINES REQUEST [BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION] HASTINGS, Friday It was announced by the Mayor, Mr. G. F. Roach, ,at a meeting of the unemployment committee this evening that a telegram from the Unemployment Board had been received stating that it could not accede to the local relief workers' request that, the original No. 5 scheme be reverted) to. The board explained that the present arrangement applied to the whole Dominion and there was no possibility of extending the* board's income to allow reversion to the old daily ratd. The committee decided to request the board to mako city conditions apply to Hastings. The men are still on strike and do not show any inclination to relax their determination.' A meeting of Havelock North unemployed decided not to join the strike.
