JAMESON THOMAS
SUCCESS IN HOLLYWOOD Jameson Thomas has at last " broken through " in Hollywood. He is to play one of the principal parts in " The Phantom President" for Paramount in support of George M. Cohan,_ the famous American stage actor, who is making his fi'ini debut. Jimmy Durante is also in the "livery British film-goer remembering the good work done in British films by Thomas before .tie went West and deploring the rarity of his recent appearances, will welcome that news. When ho left Britain to try his luck in Hollywood a little over two years ago, Jameson Thomas was probably the most popular film actor in Britain. In 1928, E. A. Dupont, the German director, described him as tl tho best British nlm actor." . " Roses of Picardy," " Poppies of Flanders," 4i The Fanner's Wife 5 and 41 High Treason " put him right in the forefront of British stars. Then Hollywood—and comparative obscurity. He has probably made more stage appearances than films since he went to America, but the turn in his luck has been presaged by his presence recently in films starring Colleen Moore and Bebe Daniels, which have not yet reached this country. Mrs. Thomas, who as Evelyn Dudson was Jameson Thomas' publicity agent in his struggling days in British films, died in Hollywood in August of last year. Their marriage was one of the hapoiest in the film world.
