PRODUCTION IN WALES Production commenced last month on the. first full-length film of- a George Bernard Shaw play, the subject selected by British International Pictures being " Arms and the Man.'; The author has himself co-operated with the dncctoi, Cecil Lewis, and Walter Mycroft, the scenario editor of 8.1.P. on the preparation of the script and has permitted certain alterations to bo made to his play in order to conform more neatly to screen requirements. Cecil Lewis and his unit have left foi North Wales where ho is to direct exterior scenes calculated to L.e of great beauty Recently the director toured the l,e had in mind and finally V 1 , 0 approval of Mr. Shaw selected Beddgelert, the. ancient and beautiful site immortalised in the poem all school children so assiduously learn concerning I lewellyn and his faithful hound Gelert. Hero scenes of a romantic nature in lovely -arden and rural settings will be filmed. & A particularly powerful cast has heen selected for this important film and includes Anne Grey, in the leading feminine role- Rarry Jones in the famous part ot Rluutschili, the " chocolate cream soldier; Maurice Colhourne; Frederick Lloyd; Angela Baddeley; H. 0. u> lol ' son"- Margaret Scudamore and Wallace Evenett. The latter replaces Lewin Mannering, who so tragically died on the first day of the film's production, and fcvenett, at ' onlv a fe-.v hours' notice made a lightning study of the part and played a series of scenes successfully in the studio the following day.
