CONSTABLES IN WHITE
EXPERIMENT IN SYDNEY Traffic constables on duty in Sydney appeared 011 a recent night at a number of points considered " danger zones" wearing white cloth covers over their caps. The white caps are being tested, and the cover may be adopted as part of tlie equipment for all police on traffic duty at night. Some time ago a test was made with white coats, but they were found unsuitable. The movement o{ while arms against a white background could not be followed. The recent harbour bridge tragedy has been responsible for a campaign for n\oro protection for traffic police, and many suggestions have been made. One was that spotlights be installed at several intersections, but (hough the suggestion was supported by the Police Depannent, nothing has been dono by the councils concerned.
