SEQUEL TO COLLISION
WOMAN AWARDED DAMAGES CAR FALLS INTO DRAIN [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] OPOTIKI, Friday A case was heard in the Opotiki Magistrate's Court before Mr. S. L. Paterson, S.M., in which Monica Walsh, of Onehunga, claimed £3O 0s 9d damages from Henry Collier, of Kutarere. The claim arose as a result of an accident to a car driven by Frank Walsh, father of the plaintiff, which was involved in a collision with a car driven by Collier. The accident occurred on the Kukumoa Swamp road, near Opotiki, on October 24, 1931. Walsh's car was tipped into an open drain on its side and tho plaintiff suffered cuts and bruises and also damage to clothing. The passengers in the car were unable to get free until Collier's party gave assistance. Considerable evidence was given on both sides. The Magistrate gave judgment for plaintiff for the amount claimed and costs £l9 7s 9d.
