This trophy is given, for the most championship points in the second round, and as City and Devonport are equal a play-off is necessary. Devonport won championship honours this season, City being the only team to lower the winner's colours in the final series of matches in the second round. Devonport suffered its second defeat of the season last Saturday at the hands of Marist in the final of the Roope Rooster competition. Although in this competition Marist outplayed City the latter gave a display much below its usual form and is expected to do better against Devonport tomorrow. On form Devonport should take the honours, but City may bring off a surprise. The curtain-raiser will be the replay of the third grade intermediate match between Marist and Northcote. These teams played a drawn game last Saturday after giving a very good display of the code, and another fine exhibition is expected.
