Thursday The Wanganui Jockey Club's Spring Meeting was commenced to-day in fine , weather. There was a fair attendance, and the totalisator handled £6486 for the seven races against £7499 for eight races last year. The track was very fast. TAKANINI TRACK NEWS TEA TRADER'S FINE SPEED Weather conditions at Takanini yesterday were good and a fair amount of wprk was performed on the middle grass, which was fast. . Bugle Call (Fearn) and Helium (Grice) were not doing their best to run seven furlongs in 1.37 2-5. Great Emblem (Wynd) ran five furlongs on the plough in 1.7. Tea Trader (Walters) gave another demonstration of his brilliant speed by ruunjne three furlongs in 30 l-ss. He gave High Comedy (Edwards) a start of 1 2-5s and heat him 'easily after heading him at the turn. High Comedy's time was 335. Palace (Gray) was tho narrowest marem in front of'Thespis (McFarlane). with Huntingdon (Craig) a couple of lengths awav. at the end of five furloncs in 1.3 3-5. I al ace was doing'it easily at the end. but Huntingdon, who has had little hard galloping, was tiring at the end. Royal Artist (Walters) worked a.mile *nd a-quarter in 2.22. Speedmmt (Edwards) joined in over the last mile, which occupied 1.53 1-5, and Lady Carnngton (Grice) brought them home the last three furloncs. finishing d length in front. . • Marmorate (Scobie) jumped away in tront of Eldora (Manson) and led her over three furlongs in 3B l-ss. . Bell Topper (Gray) appeared to be going a little better than Tat.voon (Clifford) at the end of half a.mile in 51 2-ss. ...
