WATERSIDER'S THEFT
BUTTER FROM SHIP'S CARGO a ADMITTED TO PROBATION [by telegraph—press association] GISBORNE, Thursday A waterside workor, William John O'Conncll, aged 32, engaged as winchman on the steamer Piako in tho roadstead yesterday, was to-day admitted to probation for threo years for stealing 131b. of butter from the ship's cargo. The chief officer of tb3 Piako found accused walking along tho deck with the butter in a sugar bag.
