WIFE ASSAULTED
♦ OFFENCE BY CANVASSER TERM OF IMPRISONMENT Charges of assaulting his wife by punchtig her on the head with his clenched ist, and also trespassing on his wife's >roperty during the currency of a separaion order, were admitted by Louis Harold lowe, aged 48, canvasser, in tho Police ?ourt yesterday before Mr. F. K. Hunt, 5.M. 'Detective-Sergeant McHiigh said acused had previously been convicted for , breach of tho separation order. He aifie out of gaol only on Wednesday, and vent to his wife's home, where lie inulted her and his daughter and punched lis wife repeatedly. Sho ran to. the police tation, whero accused followed her and vas arrested. The magistrate refused an appeal by iccused for leniency. Accused was senenced to a month's imprisonment on the irst charge, and three months' on th«j econd charge, the terms to be concurrent.
