RESERVE AT DARGAVILLE
CONTROL NOW DEFINED PROPOSED NEW TENNIS COURTS [by telegraph—own correspondent] DARGAVJLLE. Tuesday Many years ago the late Mr. J. M. Dargaville gave to the people of Dargaville an area of 13 acres, known as Sehvyn Park, as a recreation reserve. The Dargaville Borough Council, which has spent many hundreds of pounds in improvements to the area, did not discover until a few months ago that the land had never been vested in it and, strictly speaking, it had rio right of control. However, the matter has now been rectified and the council, as a domain board, has been given power of control. At the first meeting of the Domain Board last evening, the. Mayor, Mr. F. A. Jones, was appointed chairman. Last evening the board had before it an application from the Dargaville Tennis Club for~the lease of an area to put down grass tennis courts. The matter was favourably received by the board and a conference with the tennis club is to be held. It is proposed to put down eight tennis courts. At present there are no grass courts in Dargaville. Some hundreds of trees have recently been planted in the park and a commodious pavilion has been erect ;l.
