WHALING SEASON
BIG-SCALE OPERATIONS
NUMEROUS SHIPS ON WAY LONDON, Sept. 18 Although there was no whaling in the South Atlantic last year owing to a glut of whale oil, the operations which will be begun on September 20 will be so intense that it is estimated that 25,000 whales will be killed and boiled down on board' the floating refineries before the hunting ends in March. There are 129 ships now steaming toward the island of South Georgia. Aeroplanes and wireless are to be employed to locate the whales.
