BRITISH BY-ELECTION
TWICKENHAM SEAT RETENTION BY CONSERVATIVES LONDON, Sept. 16 .A by-election for the Twickenham seat in the House of Commons, rendered vacant by the death of Sir J. Ferguson, was held to day. It resulted Mr. H. MurrayPhilipson (Conservative), 21,688; Mr. Percy Hoi man (Labour), 16,881. At the last general election the poll for the Twickenham seat resulted: Sir J. Ferguson ' (Conservative), 39,161; Mr. P. Holman (Labour), 13,763.
