Miss Muriel Wilton arrived from Wellington yesterday.

Miss A. Pollock Smith, of Whangarei, is visiting Auckland and is staying at the Station Hotel.

Mrs. T. Watson, of Remuera, is visiting Khandallah, where she is the guest of Mrs. I. McGimpsey.

Miss A. Read, of Auckland, is visiting New Plymouth, where she is the guest of Mrs. L. M. Monteath.

Mrs. Ralston and Miss Rautley, of Whangarei, are visiting Auckland and are staying at the Station Hotel.

Mrs. D. Sykes, of New Plymouth, is visiting Auckland where she is the guest of Miss Luxford, Cheltenham.

Mr. Justice Kennedy and Mrs. Kennedy left Dunedin at the end of last week for Wellington, where they have taken a flat for a month.

Mrs. G. W. 'Sarc, of Dunedin, who has been visiting Mrs. Noble and Mrs. St. John Clarke in Auckland, will leave early in tho week to stay witli her son, Mr. E. C. Sare, in Hamilton.

Mrs. O'Halloran, of the Y.W.C.A. Board of Directors, gave an address to the members of the Mothers' Club last week, her subject being the plays of A. A. Milne. Hostesses for tea were Mrs. Morris, Mrs. Baker, and Mrs. Collin. Mrs. Edwards presided.

Word has just been received by Miss Kathleen Primmer, lately of Dunedin, of her success in this year's competition of industrial designs held by the Royal Society of Arts, London, and open to all British subjects. One of her designs for a dress material has been awarded the Sir Frank Warner Memorial Medal for "the best design in the textile section." Miss Primmer has also been awarded a prize of £5 5s for a scries of 12 designs for textiles, and of the 17 she submitted, 13 were kept for the exhibition held in August' at the Imperial Institute.

Tributes were paid to Miss E. Coatman, who has just concluded 10 years' association with the Epworth Home Methodist Orphanage, Mount Albert, at a social gathering held on Saturday afternoon. The function, which had been arranged by the ladies' committee of the orphanage, was largely attended. Mrs. T. Clark, president of tho committee, in presenting Miss Coatman with a bouquet, referred to the influence she had had over the children and the happy spirit in which the home was run. The Rev. S. Griffiths, secretary of the orphanage, and the Rev. A. Mcßean, chaplain, also spoke. Musical items were given by the Rev. A. Mitchell, Mrs. Mcßean, and the children.
