LAWN TENNIS
ONE-COURT CLUB TOURNEYS
There was considerable discussion on the arrangement of a one-court inter-club tournament at a meeting of delegates of tennis clubs concerned. It was stressed that difficulty had been experienced in the past in arranging to play inter-club matches with only one court available. This meant that those players not competing did not gel a game during the Saturday afternoons. Delegates from the following clubs were present:—'Wyaba. Hillside, Tiro Tiro, Enstou, Alderlcy, Selwyn and To Koerenga. Mr. R. B. Hardy, president of the Auckland Lawn Tennis Association, presided. It was pointed out that the regulations affecting one-court inter-club matches would be a matter for the clubs themselves, and one suggestion was advanced that, one match in every three should be played on the association courts. This would mean considerably more play for members of onecourt clubs. The opinion was also expressed that it
was desirable that approximately all tlio members of one-court clubs should compete in tournaments. As a result, members would get more tennis and it would also do n great deal to improve the standard of tennis of these cluhs. It was arranged to hold a further meeting on Thursday week.
