TOURNAMENT AT PAPAKURA [from our ow.v correspondent] \ PAPAKTJRA, Saturday A very successful boxing tournament was staged at the Paragon Theatre, Papakura, thin evening before a tfrowd of over 400 people. The patron of the club, Mr. George Storoy. opened proceedings by introducing officials from the Northern Boxing Association, Auckland. Mr. N. McLean was referee and Mr. Luke timekeeper. Details of the bouts are as follows: A.. Burgess (Papakura) beat W. Wall (Tuakau) by a knock-out in the second round; A. Jones (Papakura) beat Turner (Tuakau) by a knock-out in the second round; McConnell (Papakura) beat Collins (Auckland) on poinfs; EL Ross (Papakura) beat Poi (Auckland), on points. J. Hill (Papakura) beat H. Lindsay (Papakura> by a' knock-out in the third round; J. Wright (Papakura) beat G. . E[ill (Auckland). Hill being disqualified for holding. A.,G. McGlashan (Tuakau) beat Martin Holland (Papakura) on points after a splendid two-handed fight. This was acclaimed the best bout of the evening. McGlashan liad Holland defending and covering ufc in tho first two rounds, but Holland finished well, overwhelming his opponent, who had. however, piled up points early. L. Hooper (Auckland) beat G. Kernot (Papakura) on P Jones (Papakura) beat A. Mutton (South Auckland light-weight champion)_ on points, in a very fast and clever exhibition, with Jones finishing the better. G. Cooke (Papakura) beat T. Grant (Papakura) on points. Exhibition bouts were staged between D. Lindsay, champion of the New Zealand Navy, and R. Buckeridgo (Papakpra); F. Lindsay and J. Bakolich, welter-weigh w, and A. Burgess and J. Donovan, fly-weights. A cup for the Earnest fighter, donated by Mr. n. Pollock, was awarded to E. Jones, who beat A. Mutton (South Auckland), and a gold medal for the most scientific novice, donated by Mr. H. T. B. \Vr.lker. was won by A. Burgess, a bantamweight.
