ONEHUNGA OPPOSITION Addressing the Onehunga Borough Council on the proposed metropolitan fire board, the inspector of fird" mvgsdes. Mr. R. Girling-Butcher, stated that tho maximum annual cost to Onehunga, based upon a total annual expendituro of £30,000, would he £629. lie predicted that Onehunga would obtain a definite Savinrr in expenditure, together with an increase in efficiency, and that there would be no increase in cost for the ensuing 15 years. The scheme would cost the insurance companies £2500 a year more.
The council has passed a resolution opposing the formation of a metropolitan board.
