Vincent last evening:— Barometric pressure is very high over New Zealand, but a tropical disturbance is developing on the north-west Tasman Son. Fair to cloudy weather is indicated, with scattered showers in western districts. South-westerly winds, moderate to strong, backing by south to east, then freshening. Seas moderate, increasing on the east coast after about 18 hours. Local outlook: Cloudy and unsettled, with occasional showers. Milder temperatures. Barometer, midnight, steady .. 30.401n. GOVERNMENT REPORT The Government, meteorologist reported hist evening as follows:—An anti-cyclono has moved on to the North Island, but a fresh depression has passed Tasmania and is already beginning to affect southern New Zealand. Indications arc for winds becoming northerly except in the far north and freshening, especially in Cook and foveaux Straits. Seas moderate at first, but rising south of Cape Egmont and in Cook and Foveaux Straits. In the eastern Tasman Sea, freshening northerly winds. Seas moderate in the northern portion and rough in the southern. The weather will bo fino generally at first, but becoming unsettled shortly, with some rain in western and southern districts of the South Island. Temperatures mild.
