MATCH FOR TEST TEAM LEVESON-GOWER'S ELEVEN (Eeceived September 4, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, Sept. 3 A cricket match was begun to-day between Mr. Leveson-Gower's eleven and the English test team. The former batted first and made 200 runs (Keeton, 22; Townsend, 81; Staples, 60). Larwood took one wicket for 17 runs; Tate, none for 9; Voce, one for 33; Verity, five for 59; Brown, none for 45; Mitchell, three for 29. England in the first innings had made 5 for none when stumps were drawn. Sutcliffe and Leyland were the opening pair.

COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP THE FINAL POSITION YORKSHIRE'S GOOD LEAD (Eeceived September 4, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, Sept. 3 The final positions in the county cricket championship are: Yorkshire, 315 points out of a possible 420, 1; Sussex, 262, 2; Kent, 248, 3; Notts. 241, 4; Surrey, 210, 5; Lancashire, 179, 6. Worcestershire was last with 76 points. In a postponed match yesterday in the county championship series Somerset defeated Sussex on the first innings. Somerset, first innings, 303 (Ingle 107, Wellard 83); second, 160 (Tate five wickets for 42). Sussex, first innings, 256 (J. Parks and H. Parks each 83); second, nine wickets for 204 (four more runs were required to win). There was very little further play in the Yorkshire v. M.C.C. match, at Scarborough, it being left drawn after Marylebone had lost three wickets for 66. Yorkshire had made 326. PLA'YERS BEAT GENTLEMEN i HONE'S CONSISTENT BATTING LONDON, Sept. 2 The Players beat the Gentlemen at Folkestone by 47 runs. Players scored 194 and 370 (S. Worthington 129). M. J. C. Allom took four wickets for 74. The Gentlemen made 277 (B. W. Hone 136) and 240 (Hone 56). Freeman took six wickets for 123, giving him a total of 11 for the match.
