SPEEDY FLYING

NEW RECORD CLAIMED THREE KILOMETRES COURSE (Received September 4, 5.5 p.m.) NEW YORK. Sept. 3 Major James Doolittle established what is claimed to bs a new world's air speed record of 297.287 miles an hour over a three kilometres course at Cleveland, Ohio, to-day at the national air races. He carried a barograph to make tho record official. After breaking the record Major Doolittle continued flying over the course. He flashed past the pylons on the fifth lap at a speed of 306 miles an hour.
