THIEVES IN SUBURBS

DOCTOR'S HOUSE ENTERED QUANTITY OF CLOTHING TAKEN Clothing and other personal property, valued at about £BO, were stolen from the house of Dr. H. D. Mackenzie at 9 Marine Parade, Heme Bay, during the absence of the occupiers on Friday evening. Dr. and Mrs. Mackenzie left their house shortly after six o'clock, and when they returned at 11 o'clock several rooms presented a scene of disorder. The thief entered the house by breaking the catch of a window. It is believed he made a hurried search and left quickly. The contents of several drawers were strewn on the floors and furniture was disarranged. A dress suit and several other articles of clothing belonging to Dr. Mackenzie were stolen, and Mrs. Mackenzie's wardrobe was sacked, several dresses being taken. Two silver cake dishes were missing, but no jewellery or money was taken. The. articles were evidently removed in two suitcases which are missing.

LARGE HAUL OP HEAT PENROSE BUTCHER'S LOSS Thieves who broke into the premises of Mr. F. Birdling, butcher, of Station Road, Penrose, on Friday night, stole about 12cwt. of meat, a motor vehicle evidently being used to remove it. Mr. Birdling remained at his shop until 10 o'clock on Friday evening cutting various joints and arranging orders for the following day. When he arrived at the shop on Saturday morning, he found that his stock was greatly depleted. The stolen property included a pig, a sheep, half a bullock, 1001b. of beef cut into joints, 501b. of steak, cooked ham, sausages and small goods. The lock on the front door of thCshop was smashed by the thief in gaining entrance.
