Mrs. Charles Todd, of Wellington, left last week on a visit to Auckland. Mrs. Allan Moody, of Mount St. John, has returned from a brief visit to Tauranga. Miss C. V. Thwaites, of Wanganui, is visiting Auckland and is staying at the Station Hotel. , Miss Nellie Gray,' of Kipling Avenue, Epsom, will leave to-morrow on a visit to Tamahere. Mrs. P. Gannaway and Miss M. Park, of Hamilton, aro visiting Auckland and are staying at tho Central Hotel. Muss Lortia Blake, of Arney Road, Remuera, is spending a few days with Mrs. Murray Austin, Rangiriri. Mrs. G. C. Phillips and Mrs. G. Hellicar, of Sydney, are visiting Auckland and aro" staying at tho Station Hotel. Miss Audrey Gray, who has been spending a holiday with her parents at Remuera, has returned to Putaruru. Mrs. H. ,T. S. Sellers and Miss Kathleen Sellers, of Pukenui Road, Epsom, arc staying at the Chateau, National Park. Mrs. M. Lees, of Wellington, is visiting Auckland, where she is tho guest of Mrs. lv. Colwell, Marine Parade, Heme Bay. Mrs. K. Hall, Miss Noel Self and Miss Marjorie Suter, who have been staying at the Chateau, National Park, will return to Auckland to-morrow. Mrs. C. 11. Prysdalo and the Misses Mario and Lulu Drysdale, of Marine Parade, Heme Bay, returned by car yesterday from a visit to Ngaruawahia. Mrs. G. W. Hutcliison, the Mayoress of Auckland, drove through to New Plymouth yesterday, and will continue her journey to Wellington to-day, where she will spend a short holiday, returning next week, via National Park and Taupo. "What tho World Owes to Woman" was the subject of an address by Mrs. T. W. Silcock, president of the Higher Thought Centre, at a meeting of the. Women's Progress Club held at the Higher Thought Temple on Wednesday. Selections were rendered by tho Temple Trio at tho conclusion of the address, and afternoon tea was served.

The Hauraki patrol of the Takapuna Surf Club held a most enjoyable dance in the clubhouse, Takapuna Beach, on Saturday evening. The main room, where the dancing took place, was attractively decorated with blue and gold streamers, the club colours. Supper was served by the ladies' committee in an adjoining room. The inauguration of a settlers* ball at Opuawhanga was attended with outstanding success, visitors being present from many of the surrounding districts. The hall was decorated in pink arid green, making an attractive background for the bright colouring of the ladies' frocks. Excellent music was provided by Cunningham's orchestra, extras being played by Mrs. Bayliss. The Onerahi Tennis Club held a most successful dance irr the Town Hall, Onerahi, on behalf of the club's funds. The hall was attractively decorated with bright coloured bunting on the stage and walls, picked out with lifebuoy wreaths of greenery and flowers. Cards were provided on the stage for non-dancers, the first prize being won by Mr. J. Mason, and tho second prize by Mrs. H. Stewart. A successful social evening under the auspices of tho Otahuhu Returned Soldiers' Social Club (Papatoetoe section) was held in the Renown Hall, Papatoetoe, on Thursday. An excellent dance programme was interspersed with items by Miss J. MacLeod and Miss A. Clarke. Cards were provided for tho guests and a fivo hundred tournament was won by Mrs. P. Rhodes and Mr. A. Lovatt. Ihe arrangements were in the hands of a committee of ladies, comprising Mi*. L. Havill, Mrs. R. C. Closev, Mrs. G. Bishop and Mrs. C. Killick. fiance jnnsic was provided by Mr. and Mrs. Kiddell, and the accompaniments were played by Mr. H. Jarrett and Miss Moffatt. The Belmont-Bayswater branch of the League of Mothers held a most successful social evening in the Takapuna Boating Club Hall, Bavswater, on Saturday. Mrs. J. Schulz, the president, welcomed the members and their friends. An enjoyable programme was presented, comprising a sketch entitled " Spring Onions," by Miss J. Yerran and Mr. Owen Deacon, and songs by Mr. Powley. Competitions, cards and dancing were also very much enjoyed. A presentation to Mrs. A. M. Trenwith, who lias been secretary of the branch for two years, was made liy the president on behalf of the committee members. Supper was served at the close of the evening.
