The grass track was available und provided fust going, but times were affected by tho prevailing south-west wind. Muff was responsible for uu attractive task over a milo und u-quarter, maintaining a remarkably even paco throughout anil finishing on satisfactorily, to record excellent time. Muff is not a stylish galloper, but Ims ability to set over tho ground. Rational 11. is in splendid order just at present, and there is every reason to expect him to win home big races this season. To-day ho moved off half a dozen lengths behind Importance and Chile at tho three furlongs post and headed them a couplo of studes from tho post. His time was not bettered during tho morning. G. Murray Aynsley is giving his three-year-old fillies Silver Scorn an<l Berato plenty of work. Botli appear to be thriving on tho treatment. To-day the former galloped seven furlongs with Kakara, and Borate executed a similar task in company with Niri. All four went well without being seriously ridden.

Guy "Jim (G. Suit), Hounslow (W. Pascae) and Lancer (M. Kirwnn) were sent out to negotiate five hurdles. Tlio trio kept together for over half the journey, but Lancer then drifted brick and ran ofF at the fourth obstacle. Gay Jim finished slightly in front of Hounslow, who struck tlio last fcnco heavily, his only faulty effort on the trip Gay Jim gave a good display throughout and should l'uco well at Ashburton, where Salt will ride him. Hounslow is si most promising novice, and his pace should mako him a useful performer when the tracks are not too hard. Lancer lias certainly developed an ungenerous mood, us prior to evading the fenco he showed a disinclination to gallop at his best. ' Dr. M. G. Louisson was present to see his two-year-old Silvox. by Silverado from Toti Dal Monte, in action. The youngster was associated with Clorane, by Silverado from Zaragoza, und the pair ran three furlongs against the wind in smart time. Silvox is a solidly-built colt, and his future will bo watched with much interest. Tout Le Monde has developed into sin impressive gelding, and closely resembles Commendation in appearance. Ho has' become much mote docile than he was ns ti colt, and is gallopVg a lot better than last season. Tie has in his favour fact* that ho did not have a strenuous time as a two-year-old, and the patient policy adopted with him is likely to bear good results this term. JOCK BINGEN RESUMES WORK The trotter Jock Bingeti has Tcioined F. J. Smith's team of -regular workers at Epsom. but his duties at prcsont are of the light order. Jock Bingen has been stalling since the Auckland Christmas meeting, but lately has been doing some road-work for J. O'Kane. He looks in nice order to commence a serious preparation for futuro engagements, and as he has proved n. good stayer since joining Smith's stable, he should do well later on in two miles races. TROTTING FIXTURES Scplembor 10—Wellington Trotting Club..
