OBITUARY

MR. HENRY WILSON The death has occurred of Mr. Henry Wilson, aged 83 years, who had been a settler in the Whangarei district for over 50 years. Born in England, Mr. Wilson arrived in New Zealand on the steamer Fern Glen in 18.78 and settled for a short time in the Auckland district. Being unable to obtain employment at his trade as an iron moulder he went to Australia, and after a short time returned to the Dominion .and took up work on the gum fields in North Auckland. He acquired an unimproved block of 150 acres in the Otaika district, and farmed there until about 10 years ago, when he retired. On the death of his wife two years ago Mr. Wilson removed to Ot-ahuhu where he resided with his son, Mr. William Wilson, at Avenue Road. Mr. Wilson is survived by three sons, Mr. William Wilson, of Otahuhu, Mr. James Wilson, of Opunake, and Mr. Henry Wilson, of Whangarei, and two daughters, Mrs. Western, of Remuera, and Mrs. Ellison, of Queensland, Australia.

MR, A. MACDONALD [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Sunday The death has occurred at Matata of Mr. Allan Macdonald at the age of 69 years. Born in Dunedin, Mr. Macdonald, with Mr. J. Dalgleish, founded the firm of Dalgleish and Macdonald, livery stables, in Hamilton, in 1899. In 1919 the interests of the firm were disposed of and Mr. Macdonald took up sheep farming in the Bay of Plenty. During his residence in Hamilton ho was a member of the Waikato Trotting Club, the Agricultural and Pastoral Association and several sports bodies.
