MINING IN THE NORTH
WELLINGTON DEPUTATION INTERVIEW WITH MR. FORBES [from our own correspondent] WHANGAREI, Saturday A deputation will leave Auckland oil Thursday to interview the Prime Minister in Wellington concerning the Waro Cooperative Collieries and the mining industry in Hikurangi generally. The deputation will comprise Sir George Elliot, chairman of Wilsons (N.Z.) Portland Cement Company, Limited, Mr. S. Reid, general manager of tho company, Sir Edwin Mitchelson and Mr. Stevens, directors of the Hikurangi Coal Company,. Limited, Mr. R. Nesbit, chairman of tho Hikurangi Town Board, Mr. T. Mitchell, president of the Whangarei Chamber of Commerce, and Sir. J. Scott Davidson, chairman of directors of Waro Co-opera-tive Collieries, Limited. Several members of Parliament in Wellington and the member for tho Hikurangi district, Mr. H. M. Rushworth, M.P., will be associated with the deputation.
