A HAMMOCK
For a hammock get a piece of strong canvas, which should be about 6ft. long and 30in. wide. The width need not be exact, as it might bs as near as the material runs, so as to have the selvedge on both sides. Make a wide hem at each end of the canvas to accommodate a wooden bar, which might be 2in. by -|in. This bar must have grooves cut near both ends. Get two galvanised rings or thimbles, as they arc called and two lengths of stout cord, each two yards long. Double each cord in the middle, pass it round the wide end of -the thimble and secure with a whipping of fine strong cord. The two ends may then be spliced round the grooves at the end of the bar, and the hammock is ready for swinging.
