HOCKEY TOURISTS

FIFTH WIN REGISTERED QUEENSLAND TEAM BEATEN (Received July 28, 9.5 p.m.) BRISBANE, July 28 Taking complete control of the game in the first few minutes, the New Zealand hockey tourists overwhelmed a Warwick eleven this afternoon. Running up goals with monotonous regularity, they eventually won by 13 goals to 1. The New Zealand team was as follows: —C. Moore, T. Ewan, T. G. Parker, H. F. Bollard, P. J. Joblin, R. Munro, P. H. Anthony, M. Bay, R. Best, B. Rogers, D. Reid. Although the match was one-sided, it featured a brilliant exhibition game on the part of the visitors, whose tour of Queensland thus far has been characterised by easy victories. Their combination was wonderful, especially the forwards, who completely nonplussed the local players by the speed of their attack and their tactics, particularly the moves of P. H. Anthony (Auckland), M. Bay (Auckland), and B. Rogers, which invariably ended in goals. The backs also combined with uncanny accuracy, outstanding playera being T. G. Parker (Auckland), who played hockey of a type seldom seen in Queensland. H. F. Bollard and R. Munro (Waikato) were also conspicuous. The •visitors scored within five minutes of the opening, and with the Exception of two occasions, were on the attack the greater part of the first half, during which seven goals were netted. In the second half, the New Zealanders again took control of affairs and early added an additional three goals in quick succession. Then Warwick for the first time seemed to have the upper hand, but the advantage was short-lived. The visitors dominated play in the remainder of the game, and won by 13 goals to 1. The record of the team to date is as follows: — July 20, defeated Casino, s—o. July 24, defeated Queensland, 4 —l. July 25, defeated Ipswich, B—o. July 27, defeated Toowoomba, 4—o. July 28, defeated Warwick, 13—1.
