ANOTHER ART UNION
APPROVAL OF LICENCE PROCEEDS TO MANY SOCIETIES [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON, Thursday . The Government has approved of < licence being. issued for a further £4OOO alluvial gold art' union to aid financially a number of institutions whose funds hav* been seriously depleted by the depression* The societies to benefit by the art union, which will be drawn on September 24, are the following:—"The SmitK Family" or the Mayor's fnndii for the relief of distress in the four centres; th# Egmont, Hawera, Wairoa, Poverty Bay, Opotiki, Nelson, Maniototo, Strath-Taieri, Lake County, and Central *Otago Agricultural and Pastoral Associations; the Baj of Plenty Winter Show Association; th* New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association (for the promotion of instruction in swimming among school children); and the New Zealand branch of the Royal Life-Saving Society (for the assistance of surf clubs).
