BOWLING IN DOMAIN
TENURE OF THE GREENS i DIFFERENCES AT CAMBRIDGE [FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT] CAMBRIDGE, Thursday Relations are a little strained at present between the Domain Board and the Cambridge Bowling Club over the future tenure of the club's greens in the Domain Some time ago the Domain Board presented a demand for £2O, being payment for the current year's use of the area comprising three greens, the club having made a donation last year of £25. Previously the club had had the use of the area subject to the entire maintenance being borne by the club. Recently a conference of the sports bodies occupying Domain areas and the board was held. The club's representatives were invited to consider the payment of a substantial rental to help provide for the future maintenance of the Domain. The matter was considered by the club's executive last evening, when strong exception was taken to a statement presented by the board at the recent conference claiming that since 1901 the Domain Board had made payments and grants to the club totalling £427. The club's delegates claimed that many of the items in the statement were for the benefit of the Domain as a whole. It was further claimed that the- bowling greens were a wonderful asset to the Domain and that since 1912 the club had spent over £3OOO in maintaining them. After a lengthy discussion it was decided to offer the board an annual payment of £5 for 21 years, subject to the board granting tho club a suitable tenure.
