THE- AUCKLAND EXCHANGE STEADY CONDITIONS PREVAIL Steady conditions prevailed in tho investment market on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday. Lato levels were maintained and dealing took place on a slightly higher basis. Offers for State loans remained generally unchanged, ihero being a shading in support for the 1939 per cent slock and bonds, -which wero sought 5s lower at £95 15s. A tendency to invito business was again evident on the part of holders, who more widely represented. Tho only sale was in 1937 5i per cent stock, September issue/5s higher at £lOl ss. In banks dealing was confined to New Zealands, which wero placed 6d higher at 46s 9d and at tho final call at 46s lOd. Holders were steady at 475, but buyers advanced their' offers by 3d to 46s 9d. Commercials wero sought unchanged at 13s 9d »nd holders conceded Id to quote 13s lid. For New South Wales offers declined by 5s to £26, while Unions were sought 6d higher at £6 15s 6d, following a reduction in quotations of Is to £6 18s. A parcel of New Zealand Insurance was released 3d higher at/40s 3d, following which holders quoted at 40s 9d, an advance of 6d. Valines in the other sections showed no definite trend. For Auckland Gas offers at 20s 9d were 9d higher, there being no response from holders, while offers 5d lower nt 24s 3d were put in for Now Zealand Breweries. In Colonial Sugars an advance of 5s to £4l 15s in offers and a similar fall to £42 in quotations was accompanied by a sale 2s 6d higher at £4l 17s '6d Farmers' Fertiliser changed hands 2d higher at 13s, there being 110 movement hi levels. Remaining business included a sale in New Zealand Refrigerating (10s paid) unchanged at 4s 5d and in Taranaki Oilfields Id higher at Is Id. No sales in mining shares took place. [Values remained fairly stationary, although support was slightly better for most issues.
