ROTORUA
Dixieland was the scene of a most enjoyable cJance, organised by the committee of the Rotorua Gill Guides, last week. Orange and green streamers, orange lampshades and foliage made a charming background for the many pretty frocks worn by the dancers. Mr. Painton's orchestra supplied the music, . and extras were played by Miss Kathleen Hall. Mr. Grant made and efficient master of ceremonies, and the old-time dances which he introduced into the programme were greatly appreciated. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Mrs. W. A. McLean and Mr. F. C. Bunyard. Miss E. Stanton was successful in winning the prize for bridge, and tho "500" prize went to Mrs. A. Steele. Those present were: Miss E. J. Harris, Divisional Commissioner, Mrs. W. S. Hay, the president of the Plunket Society, entertained the l'lunket mothers and members of the committee at a social afternoon held at the Dolly Varden on Friday afternoon. An apology was received for the unavoidable absence of Mrs. A. J. Isdale, the Ngongotaha member of the committee. Mrs. Hay welcomed tho guests and expressed great pleasure at meeting the young mothers. She introduced Mrs. C. A. Suckling, the president, and Mrs. Sutcliffe, tho secretary, of the Wliakatane Plunket Society. Afternoon tea was served, the tables having been set out with vases of beautiful spring flowers. Those present included Mrs. C. A. Suckling, Mrs. Sutcliffe, of Wliakatane, Mrs. F. W. Wilkie, Mrs. J. Halkett, Mrs. E. Roe, Mrs. C. Smith, Mrs. E. 11. Tyler, Mrs. G. French, Mrs. E. G. Davey, Mrs. Wright, Mrs. Board, Mrs. A. Shaw, Mrs. E. P. Lloyd, Mrs. Krogh, Mrs. Hainee, Mrs. H. Carter, Mrs. B. Angus, Mrs. Beamsley, Mrs. W. Lee, Mrs. Burch, Mrs. C. Tattersall.
