GOLDEN WEDDING

MR. AND MRS. JOHN BROADY The 50th anniversary of the wedding of Mr. and Mrs. John Broady, of Northcote, occurs to day. They were married at the Franklin Road Primitive .Methodist Church 011 July 27, 1882, the Rev. James Guy officiating, and have resided at Nofthcote for the past 40 years. When Northcote was constituted a borough 111 1908, Mr. Broady was elected a member of tho Borough Council, and served for 12 years. For tlneo years ho also was a member of the Waitemata County Council, representing the Birkenhead riding. Mr. Broady wag the second son of Mr. John Broady, of Moulton, Cheshire, England, and was born at Carrickfergus, near Belfast, 76 years ago. At the age of 23 he came out to New Zealand in the sailing ship British Empire, which brought 350 passengers. Mr. Broady has revisited England on four occasions, and was in London in 1917 during the air raids by the Germans. Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Broady, who was the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gedrge Warburton, was -born at Lymm, Cheshire, England, 78 years ago.'. Her father first came to New Zealand, and four years later, in 1865, when she was 11 years old, her mother and othei members of the"family made the voyage in the sailing ship Andrew Jackson. For the past 30 years she has been a member of the Northcote Presbyterian Chul'ch. Mr. and Mrs. Broady have three sons and three daughters, all of whom aje married. There are also 16 grandchildren.
