FINANCIAL SUCCESS t ASSOCIATION'S YEAR REVIEWED [FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT] HAMILTON, Tuesday "I am pleased to state that, in spite of the genoral depression, we aro able to present a satisfactory balance-sheet, and that the standard of tjio regatta was well up to that of previous years," said tho president of tho Ngaruawahia Regatta Association, Mr. J. 11. Heath, in reviewing tho past year's operations at tho 36th annual meeting last evening. By a careful scaling down of running expenses it had been possible to show a very satisfactory profit of £95, although tho takings wero £127 less than those at tho previous fixture, continued Mr. Heath. It was considered tho incoming committee would be well advised to endeavour to reduce further tho running costs of the regatta as far as Qould be done without lowering the standard set during past years. Tlie Maori events wero well supported, tho fact that there wero two new canoes on tho river showing that greater interest was being taken by tho Maoris, and that tho association need have no fear that these events would die out in the near future. Good support was received in tho other sections. Tho statement of accounts disclosed a strong financial position, the balance of ■ assets over liabilities totalling £961. Tho following officers wero elected:— Patron, Sir Frederic Lang; president, Mr. A. Morris; secretary and treasurer, Mr. 11. D. Sampson; executive committee (four vacancies), Messrs. F. Mills, D. Welch, J. S. Johnston, G. Jc*<; auditor, Mr. 11. Marsland. Mr. Marsland was appointed a life member of tho association.
