HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST STORMY, WITH HEAVY RAIN The following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied by Mr. 11. M. Vincent last evening:— The cyclone from Tasman Sea lias moved on to tho North Island, and is centred in tho north. The storm is apparently becoming more intense, and is a prelude to an extensive westerly depression, which covers a witlo area of the Tasman Sea and south-eastern Australia. Expect cloudy to overcast weather, with rain generally, heavy throughout the Auckland Provinco and east coast districts. Rivers flooded in many places. Easterly to ncyth-easterly winds, strong to gale, backing by north to west. Seas rough to heavy, particularly on the cast coa«t. Local outlook: Stormy, with heavy rain. Milder temperatures. Barometer, midnight, falling . . 29,45 in. Midnight, Monday .. 29.85 in. Temperature in shade yesterday (to midnight)— Maximum, 53deg.; minimum, 43dcg. GOVERNMENT REPORT The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows: —A depression has been advancing over the Tasman Sea on to the North Island and has become intensified, while a slight anti-cyclone has remained centred over Otago. Indications are for moderate to strong easterly to southorly winds, reaching galo force at places in and north of Cook Strait. Seas rough on the cast coast and north of Farewell Spit; moderate south of Farewell Spit. In the Tasman Sea, strong and squally south-east to south winds and rough to heavy seas. The weather will be cold and squally, with fairly general rain and some heavy falls in the northern and eastern districts of tho Norlh Island. Snow is probable in many places.
