BRICK FOR BUILDINGS
EXTENSIVE USE IN NAPIER PANELS IN FERRO-CONCRETE [I!Y TELEGItAPy —OWN COHRESrONDENT] NAPIER, Tuesday Brick is being used extensively in the erection of new buildings in Napier. In the new brick buildings the principal walls are of brick panels, reinforced and set in ferro-concreto frames. Architects and building contractors are convinced that panels of this type have sufficient strength to offer tho resistance required to withstand the heaviest earthquake that New Zealand has experienced, and an advantage is provided in economy. The possibility of such methods of construction proving inadequate is diminished by the effect of regulations requiring all new building methods and materials to pass rigorous tests on lines drawn up after last year's disaster.
