VACANT WESTMINSTER SEAT. RETENTION BY CONSERVATIVES. LONDON, July 12. Captain Sidney Herbert, formerly private secretary to several Ministers and M.P. for Scarborough and Whitby from 1922-1931, has been returned unopposed as Conservative member for the Abbey division of Westminster.
The seat was rendered vacant by the resignation of Mr. Otho W. Nicholson (Conservative), who was returned unopposed in October, 1931.
