ENGLISH JUDGES' ORDERS.
THE PRACTICE INCREASING. (Received July 12. S.3S p.m.) LONDON, Ju]y 12. English Judges to an increasing degree are ordering the "cat" for robberies. Three men were sentenced at the Winchester Assizes to five, four and three years' imprisonment respectively and 15 strokes each with the "cat" for the robbery of £23,477 at Portsmouth in May. At the Old Bailey two men were tried in connection with an attack on a cashier at Stratford. They were ordered to receive 12 strokes, in addition to terms of imprisonment.
