SHEARERS' AWARD.
ADJUSTMENT OF WAGES. NEW. AUSTRALIAN METHOD. (Received July 12. 8.15 p.m.) MELBOURNE, July 12. Mr. Justice Dethridge, Chief Judge of the Commonwealth Arbitration Court, today delivered an interim award for the pastoral industry. He announced a new method of wage adjustment, the effect of which is that ' shearers have been reduced from 32s 6d to 29s 3d per 100 flock sheep shorn, 58s 6d per 100 rams, and 37s 6d per 100 stud ewes and lambs. If ration's uro found these rates will be 26s a week less.
His Honor pointed out that to attempt to estimate the prospective wage-paying capacity of this industry for any specific period would involvo an estimate of the future prices of wool, meat, etc., which would be attended with great difficulty.
• The new rates, which are to come irjto operation three months from July 18, represent a slight reduction on the old rates.
