GRAFTON TENNIS CLUB.

ANNUAL DANCE HELD.

Large flags and ferns decorated the entrance to the Auckland Bowling Club pavilion last evening when the annual dance of the Grafton Tennis Club was held. Dancing took place on the ground floor, where most attractive decorations had been carried into effect. Flags of, all countries were draped round the walls and streamers in bright colours added to the gaiety of the scene. In the reception room upstairs supper was served, the long tables having been decorated with crystal bowls of Iceland poppies and asparagus ferns. At one end of the room tables for bridge were set for those who did noj, care to dance. The music ,was supplied by a panatrope and dancing continued until a late hour.

The ladies' committee comprised Mrs. A. W. Wilson, Mrs. Dillner, Miss Stubbs, Miss Rose Hardie-Neil, Miss Marjorie Tracy-Inglis. Among the dancers were:—Mrs. W. H Whitmore, who wore a frock of phloxpink lace with fur-trimmed jacket; Mrs. B. Wilson, dove grey and red, poppy patterned ninon; Mrs. Dillner, black georgette; Mrs. Darroch, pink sprigged taffeta; Mrs. Stubbs, black lace and georgette; Mrs. W. Miller, apricot georgette and satin; Mrs. Lessing, black georgette; Mrs. Nexon, Naples blue ring velvet; Mrs. Merritt, brocaded lame; Mrs. Grahame, black coquette frock; Miss Stubbs, Persian rust georgette and tissue fur-trimmed coatee; Miss Hose Hardie-Neil, lavender lace and georgette with short pastel lame jacket; Miss Joyce Johnston, apple green taffeta; Miss Marjorie Tracy-Inglis, black georgette and lace, with shoulder spray of red roses; Miss Rona Anderson, water green georgette and black velvet jacket; Miss Walker, rose-pink satin; Miss Ailsa Hacket, black lace and georgette, with rhinestone trimming and gold lame coatee; Miss Vera McKay, floral georgette; Miss Webber, pastel blue lace and georgette; Miss Coldicutt, cherry crepe suedine and gold bridge coat; Miss Olive Hardie-Neil, chartreuse green lace frock; Miss Broadbent, ivory lace; Miss Tanner,' black velvet and ninon; Miss Marjorie Johnston, turquoise satin beaute; Miss Mavis Johnstone, salmon pink and grey chenille velvet; Miss Mason, lemon ring velvet; Miss Wyatt, apple green georgette; Miss Tornquist, Nile green satin; Miss N. Hammond, black lace; Miss A. Craig, cameo pjnk georgette and lace; Miss do Boissiere, ciel blue satin.
