SOLDIERS AND RELIEF WORK.

Sir, —I have been working under No 5 scheme for over 18 months and have received two days per week for three weeks in the month, amounting to £2 14 s p er month. This, taking into consideration the cost of living in the district, is not enough to exist on. Because I receive 10s per week soldier pension I am reduced to one day per week, or 27s per month. I maintain that such treatment to the diggers, who have given of their best, is uncalled for and is not in keeping with tha spirit of promises made when we left New Zealand during the war. I may say that another returned soldier, like myself is receiving the same treatment. ' J. Gilrov, Ohura. - Digger.
