MOUNT EDEN TRAMCARS.
ALTERATION IN STOPS.
SUGGESTION BY MOTORISTS. A request for the abolition of tho tramcnr slops at the intersections of Mount Eden Road with Valley Road and with Stokes Road, which are only a short distance apart, avid the adoption of a new stop half-way between the two points, was received by the Transport Board at a meeting yesterday from the Auckland Automobile Association. The association stated that the proximity of the two stops caused inconvenience to traffic. Members of the association council had visited the locality and suggested that a new stopping place, opposite shop verandahs, which would give shelter to tram passengers, should be adopted. "The manager, Mr. "A. E. Ford, is of the opinion that there must be a stop at Stokes Road on account of the business premises there," said the chairman, Mr. J. A. G. Allum. Mr. E. H. Potter said he thought" the stops should be merged, while Mr. H. G. R. Mason suggested it might be possible to use the stop at Stokes Road on the outward journey and the o'her stop for inward cars. It was cbcided to defer the matter until the manager had reported fully.
