COMBINED BALL.
GAY SCENE AT UNIVERSITY.
The engineers and architects' combined hall, held in the Auckland University hall on Saturday evening, proved a decided success. The stage and hall were artistically decorated, a feature of the scheme being a futuristic conception of architecture erected at the hack of the stago. Special lighting effects were set about the side walls and under their soft colourings the scone was most effective: The Kit Kat Dance Band supplied the . music. Supper was served downstairs in tho women's common room, where the tables were decorated with silver howls of Iceland poppies. The men's committee which was in charge of tho arrangements was responsible for the great success which the function achieved.
Among the dancers were: —Mrs. C. Dawson, who wore a frock of deep rose charmeuse; Mrs. Knight, scarlet crepe romaine; Mrs. Lamb, black suede; Mrs. Stuart Robertson, white satin beaute; Mrs. Jebson, Oriental patterned georgette; Mrs. J. R. McLaren, black scquinned net; Mrs. A. J. Dickson, delft blue georgette and lace; Mrs. C. J. Downcs, scarlet georgette and gold lace; Miss Bourne, powder blue georgette with gold tissue design; Miss Gwen Bouisson, pale petunia georgette with flared skirt; Miss Bebe Cook, jade green georgette; Miss Valerie McCallum, white satin, with coral pink and black velvet coatee; Miss Lynn Court, pink, silver and blue lame; Miss Diana D'Esterre, white satin with scarlet relief; Miss Renny, whito georgette; Miss M. Stokes, sun-gold organdie and spray of Iceland poppies; Miss Doreen Kalaugher, Chinese red and beige floral lace.
Miss Nancy Northcroft wore white souplo satin; Miss C. Thomas, black taffeta, with white gardenia spray; Miss C. Clark, gold lace frock; Miss Betty Atkinson, ivorv georgette. Miss Heather Macky wore chartreuse green crepe suede; Miss D. Smith, limegreen fische net; Miss C. Davidson, amber shaded net frock; Miss Peggy Shane, vieux rose ripple ninon, with black banded skirt; Miss Connie McKenzie, eau de nil georgette and net; Miss R. Brewer, cream net frock; Miss Wills, rose du barri taffeta; Miss Doreen Harrison, cornflower blue satin with deep bertha collar; Miss A. Gillies, green printed georgette; Miss Ailsa Bell, cameo pink georgette, with floral design and frills of net in the same shade; Miss Phoebe Young, cream satin beaute; Miss Jean Gillies, jade green crepe suede; Miss Edna King-Mason, black satin and georgette; Miss Ruth Schmidt, pastel floral' ninon; Miss K. Fordc, flowered ninon.
