PUKEKOHE BOROUGH.
REDUCTION IN RATES. TOTAL ESTIMATED AT £777. [from our own correspondent.] PUKEKOHE, Saturday. Reductions i.n rates and charges for the current financial year were decided on by -th'3. Pukekohe Borough Council last evening. The council estimates a- revenue of £12,871 during the year from these sources, as compared with £13,648 levied last year, a reduction to the ratepayers Of £777, < Tiie general fate is to be reduced from 1 3-32 d to Id, the street-lighting rate from 4-32 d to 3-32 d, the rubbish collection fee from 7s 6d to 6s; and the sanitary charge from £1 7s 6d to ,17s. 6d. Levies for water supply show an estimated reduction from £3002 to £IBB4.
Owing to the further expenditure of loan money the special loan rates show an increase, as, in spite of benefits conferred by the National Expenditure Adjustment Act, considerably more money has now to he found annually to pay interest and sinking fund.charges on the increased loan indebtedness. The hospital . shows an increase from 9-32 d in the pound to 10-32 d.
