The giant dirigible Los Angeles, the training ship ol: United States naval aiimen, was ordered to be decommissioned to-day for reasons of old age and economyShe will bo immediately shorn of hei helium, engines and her nameThe airship was delivered to America in 1924 after a 74-hour flight from Frie-tlrichshafen by Dr. Hugo Lckener.
The airship ZB3, later named the Los Angeles, was constructed in Germany tc replace two airships; allotted by the Peace Treaty to the United Staffs which had been destroyed by their crews after the Armistice. Until the construction of the Akron last year th.j Los Angeles was the largest unit in the American lighter-thau-air fleet..
