CHARGE AGAINST CLERK. OVER £I7OO INVOLVED. RESTITUTION OF £BOO MADE. [t!Y TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION".] DUNEDIN. Friday. A charge that being a clerk employed by the Grand Lodge of the Independent Order of Oddfellows, lie committed theft of divers sums of money amounting to £1720 13s 4d, the property of the lodge, was preferred against William Ifiancis Crooko in the Police Court this afternoon beforo Mr. H. W. Bundle, S.M. Chief-Detective Yuung asked for a reriiand for a week, which was granted. Counsel for the defence in applying for bail said that restitution had been made to the lodge to the extent of £BOO. Accused was married with three children and he would plead guilty. Bail was allowed in self £2OO and a surety of £2OO.
