MUSIC AS A CURE.
USE IN LONDON HOSPITAL, j EXERCISES TO DANCE TUNES. Music as a form of treatment is extensively used in the physical treatment department of King's College Hospital, London. This department, which appealed recently for gramophone records to aid its work, gives people suffering from muscular and bone weaknesses or deformities special sets of exercises to bo performed to popular tunes, classes for adult patients being held in the gymnasium. People suffering from rheumatoid arthritis (inflammation of tho joints) go through a series of movements to foxtrots or waltzes which loosen tho muscles and joints. Men and women with flat feet are also treated to fox-trot music and weakly children are piven crawling exercises to gramophone airs. The "musical" treatments have proved very beneficial, but tho department is unh.ippy about its stock of records, which have become almost worn out. A member of the department said: "We are longing for some person to offer us his old records, tho jollier tho tunes the better. We prefer fox-trots and waltzes."
