■WELLINGTON, Tuesday

The management committee of the "Wellington Rugby Union this evening docided to comply under protest with the decision of the New Zealand Union in connection with the rules regarding the replacement of injured players and leaving the field at halftime. The New Zealand Union is to he urged to call a special meeting of delegates to consider ihe position at tho earliest possible date.

OTAGO UNION'S DECISION

Tho Otago Rugby Union has passed a resolution that the New Zealand Union be informed that Otago conforms to its wishes in connection with non-replacement of players, but asks the New Zealand Union to approach the English Union and endeavour to obtain permission to allow replacement of injured players. One speaker remarked that at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Union delegates had voted under a misapprehension.

The action of the New Zealand Rugby Union in connection with replacement of injured players and teams leaving/tho field at half-time was strongly criticised by the Nelson Union. A motion that Nelson carry on with replacements as at present pending further communication was carried.

Aa a result of a letter from the New Zealand Rugby Union, the North Auckland Union haa decided that no replacements will be allowed during the North AucklandWaikato match on Thursday. The letter also requested Iliat the teams should remain on the field at half-time, and the union haa decided to adhere to this request. Donaldson (Otumatea). who haa broken a finger, will be replaced by Peacockc in the North Auckland toam.

WAIKATO REFEREES.

The quarterly meeting of tho Waikato Referees' Association was held at Cam bridge, S3 referees being present from the Hamilton, Waipa, Cambridge, Morrinsville and Matnmata Sub-Associations. Several rulings were received from the Now Zealand Referees' Association. A resolution was unanimously carried:— "That this meeting strongly protests to the Waikato Rugby Union for its action in agreeing for an outside refereo in tho match against_Auckland on June 3 at Hamilton. after tliree names of Waikato referees had been submitted to the Auckland Union and declined by the Auckland Union, which demanded an outside refereo." It was contended that this was against the spirit of a resolution carried at the annual meeting of delegates of tho New Zealand Rugby Union "that nil referees for inter-provincial union matches be provided by the homo union."
