ENGLISH TROPHY, MATCHES.

GAME WITH NORTH AUCKLAND

LOCAL FINAL OF CHATHWM CUP.

A letter was received from the New Zealand Council at last evening's meeting of the control board of the Auckland Football Association accepting tho Auckland challenge for (he English trophy, and asking for suitable dates for tho match to bo suggested. It was resolved that if Auckland is to meet Otago to suggest August 0 as a suitable date, while if "Wellington is tho trophy holder to suggest August 20. In the event of Otago retaining the trophy in the coming match against Wellington, it was decided to try and arrange terms with "Wellington for a match to be played when the Auckland team is returning from Dunedin.

Tho North Auckland Association wrote requesting a match with an Auckland team to be played at TTikurangi. It was resolved to reply that an Auckland team would bo sent on either August 0 or Augußl 20.

It was decided to play tho local final of tho Chatham Cup competition on Saturday, when, as a curtain-raiser, teams representing the secondary schools and the fourth grade will be matched.

Tlio council of the Now Zealand Football Association is not prepared at present to guarantee to send a New Zealand.team to Australia next year, although, if conditions improve, the council is entirely favourable to tho resumption of an exchange of visits. This decision followed tho receipt by tlio council this evening of a letter from tho Australian Association.

Tho secretary reported that associations hod been circularised accordingly. Tho North Auckland Association intimated that it was prepared to receive a challenge from South Auckland this season. The chairman reported that both the Wanganui and Iliuitly Associations had replied that they could not undertake tho primary schools' tournament. Applications had been received for grunts toward the travelling exponses of teams playing in the tournament, but the council could not make any grants in that direction. Mr. S. C. Shedden reported that the "Wellington Primary Schools' Association was desirous of holding tho tournament, and it was agreed that, if it could bo managed, tho tournament should be held in Wellington. It was left to Mr. Sliedden to see if it could be arranged to hold the tournament in Wellington. It was decided to allow until August G to find the finalists between Otago ond Canterbury iv tho Chatham Clip competition. If South Auckland defeats Auckland in tho Chatham .Cup, the mnjch between South Auckland and the Welling®n finalists will be played in Hamilton,
