QUEENSLAND ELECTION.
POLLING NISXT SATURDAY.
PREMIERS' PLAN THE ISSUE.
OPPOSITION BY LABOUR.
By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyi-iglit (Received Juue 5, 5.5 p.m.) BRISBANE. Juue 4.
The Queensland general election campaign is going along quietly. The poll will be held on June 11.
The outstanding issue is the acceptance or rejection of the Premiers' Plan. The Labour Leader, Sir. Forgan Smith, says he is opposed to the Premiers' Plan on the ground that ifc means drastic economies and the lowering of the standard of living. Also he is opposed to Langism and is criticising the Moore Government for the steps it has taken to adjust the finances of the State.
Mr. Smith has the backing of the Brisbane Labour Convention for a proposal to spend at least twice the present annual revenue of the State.
Mr. A. E. Moore, the Premier, declares that he will stand or fall by the Premiers' Plan.
Labour in Queensland is not divided as it was when the railwaymen rebelled against the McCormack Government a few years ago. Nor does the sugar question affect the election.
Owing to the redivision of the electorates and the reduction of the number from 72 to 62 neither side feels confident about the result.
